According to a report from Turkish media outlet Aksam, West Ham are interested in signing Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.
The Hammers have real problems in the goalkeeping department.
Mario Husillos brought Roberto to the club on a free transfer in the summer. And he has proven to be a total disaster since filling in for the injured Lukasz Fabianski.
The Spaniard is clearly not good enough for West Ham. And when Fabianski returns, the east London outfit need an able deputy to provide stiffer competition for the Pole.
And according to Turkish publication Aksam, Trabzonspor ace Ugurcan Cakir could be the man for the job.
It is claimed that Liverpool also want to sign the young Turk.
The Daily Mail claimed last month that the 23-year-old is valued at around £18 million by Trabzonspor.
And Cakir would be an excellent addition for West Ham that price.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, the Turkish stopper cuts a commanding figure and he is an excellent shot-stopper.
He is certainly better than Roberto, and the Hammers really need to make this one happen.
Whether they can beat Liverpool to his signature, however, remains to be seen.
