West Ham and Leicester City are both interested in AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, according to reports in Turkey.

Turkish media outlet Fanatik reports that the Premier League pair are pursuing Calhanoglu ahead of the summer transfer window.

AC Milan want €30m (around £26m) for Calhanoglu with the player thought to be keen on a Premier League move.

Calhanoglu’s contract expires in 2021 and he is a regular under Gennaro Gattuso but West Ham and Leicester might still test their resolve with a bid.

Who is Hakan Calhanoglu?

Calhanoglu is an exciting midfield playmaker who is renowned for his specialist free-kicks. He has scored some stunning free-kicks in the past and he could replicate Dimitri Payet’s success in that regard if he moves to East London.

The 25-year-old previously played in Germany with Karlsruher SC, Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen before his 2017 move to AC Milan.

In nearly two seasons with the Serie A club, Calhangolu has scored 10 goals and played nearly 100 games. But he only has one league goal to his name this season.

The 41-cap Turkey international is now entering the prime of his career and could be a shrewd purchase for West Ham.

But whispers circulating around social media suggest West Ham have a shoestring budget this summer. Therefore, a move to Leicester seems more likely at this stage.
