West Ham are one of several clubs interested in Bundesliga midfielder Steven Zuber, according to reports emerging from Italy. As per Tutto Mercato Web, Zuber is wanted by Roma, Lazio, Nice and West Ham.
Roma and Lazio are bitter rivals in the Italian capital. And they are now ready to go head-to-head in the race to sign Zuber from Hoffenheim.
French club Nice and Premier League side West Ham are set to compete for the on-loan Stuttgart winger. With a contract until 2020, he is rated at around £6m.
Who is Steven Zuber?
Zuber is a winger who currently plays for Stuttgart on loan from Bundesliga. Stuttgart have one game left and their 18th-place finish has been confirmed. This means they will face a relegation play-off to decide whether they stay in the top-flight.
The 22-cap Switzerland international joined Stuttgart in January on loan until the end of the season. He had found game time hard to come by at Hoffenheim up until that point.
Zuber has since scored five goals for the German side, helping them push away from the bottom two. Prior to January, he had just one goal (in the Champions League) to his name.
The 27-year-old has a total of 99 appearances for Hoffenheim under his belt with eight goals. Before moving to Germany, he scored once in 40 games for Russian side CSKA Moscow. And before that, his tally of 33 goals and 22 assists in 146 games for Swiss side Grasshoppers caught the eye.
West Ham do not particularly need a new winger unless there are several departures this summer. But Zuber is still being linked with a potential move to East London.
