West Ham United and Crystal Palace are interested in signing Strasbourg ace Jean-Ricner Bellegarde according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Hammers boss David Moyes will be keen to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium this month.

And the addition of a new central midfielder will be a priority for the Scot.

Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek are a formidable duo. Moyes has little to call upon in reserve, however.

Foot Mercato claims that West Ham could look to solve that squad deficiency by bringing Strasbourg ace Jean-Ricner Bellegarde to east London.

We allegedly could face competition from Crystal Palace for his signature, however.

The midfielder joined the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer of 2019 for around €2 million (£1.8 million), according to Get Football News France.

West Ham smart to move in for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde?

The 22-year-old is a strong central midfielder and has been described as a powerhouse by Ghana Soccer.

In 15 Ligue 1 appearances for Strasbourg this season, Bellegarde has averaged 1.9 tackles per game. He also possesses an impressive pass completion rate of 82.1% from 24.6 passes per game (Who Scored).

If West Ham can pick the 22-year-old up for a bargain fee in January it seems like a no-brainer for David Moyes. Let’s just hope that we can beat Crystal Palace to his signature.
