West Ham have made an official bid for Lorient striker Alexis Claude-Maurice, according to reports in France. Soccer Link reports that Arsenal and West Ham have made bids for Claude-Maurice.
Arsenal have seen a €10m (£8.8m) bid rejected but West Ham’s offer remains undisclosed. The two London-based outfits are vying with other clubs across Europe for Claude-Maurice.
This report mentions that Ligue 1 quartet Monaco, PSG, Lyon and Lille all want Claude-Maurice. Meanwhile, German side Red Bull Leipzig are also in the hunt.
Who is Alexis Claude-Maurice?

Claude-Maurice plays for Lorient, who play in Ligue 2 – France’s second tier. He has thoroughly impressed this season, operating up front or on the wing.
The 20-year-old played 35 league games for Lorient this season, racking up an impressive tally of 14 goals and four assists. This form has not gone unnoticed with teams in France, Germany and England chasing him.
Lorient are clearly keen to keep Claude-Maurice. And if he does end up departing, the French side want to earn as much money as possible. After rejecting a bid of around £8.8m from the Gunners, West Ham could be forced to cough up an eight-figure fee for the youngster.
The France U20 international is an exciting prospect for the future, though. Will West Ham take a punt on Claude-Maurice and win the race?
