West Ham could potentially be looking to bring Mo Diame back to East London. According to Turkish news outlet Sabah, the Hammers are among the clubs interested in the soon-to-be free agent.
Diame’s contract at Newcastle is coming to an end and an exit looks likely. West Ham and Crystal Palace are reportedly ready to rival Fenerbahce for the central midfielder.
In a recent interview with The Chronicle, Diame revealed that a new contract at St James’ Park was unlikely. The 31-year-old argued that Newcastle’s policy means that it is hard for older players to sign a new deal.
But West Ham could offer him a lifeline, according to these reports. Fenerbahce are said to be leading the race with West Ham and Crystal Palace lurking.
Mo Diame: an unpopular name at West Ham
Diame is an unpopular figure at West Ham. The Senegal international played 79 games for the Irons, scoring seven goals. And some of his strikes were memorable.
But West Ham fans cannot forgive how he forced his exit. After claiming that he wants to join a top-six club, Diame moved to Hull City, where he was relegated that season.
This prompted joint-chairman David Gold to post this hilarious tweet.
Daily Star – Mohamed Diame said it was always his aim to play for a team higher up the league table.
Good luck at Hull Mohamed. dg

Surely there are no legs behind this story. Signing Diame would be underwhelming even if he had no links with West Ham. He is old and he wanted to leave West Ham in the past. Hammers fans never forget and these Diame links will probably be met with universal boos.
