According to a report from the Daily Star, West Ham hitman Javier Hernandez has asked his representatives to find him another club.
The 31-year-old joined the Hammers from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2017 for around £16 million, according to BBC Sport.
He hasn’t quite lived up to expectations at the London Stadium, however.
Hernandez has bagged just 16 goals in 61 appearances in all competitions for West Ham.
The Mexican has just one year remaining on his current contract. And the Hammers might just be tempted to cash in on the striker now, rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.
West Ham do have somewhat of a striker shortage, however. So they will surely only sell Chicharito if they have a replacement lined up.
The Daily Star claims that Manuel Pellegrini has told the former Manchester United hitman that he isn’t guaranteed regular action this season.
The 108-capped Mexico international is now at an age where he will want to be playing regularly.
And he certainly won’t want to play second fiddle to Sebastien Haller this season.
So perhaps if West Ham receive a decent offer for his services, it might be in everyone’s best interest to let him leave this summer.
Hernandez still has a lot to offer. Whether that will be at the London Stadium, however, remains to be seen.
