Report: West Brom keen on loan move for West Ham's Ajibola Alese

Former West Ham manager Slaven Bilic wants to use his relationship with the Hammers to land a loan player. According to Sky Sports News, West Bromwich Albion want to sign Ajibola Alese on loan from West Ham.

Bilic is the new manager of West Brom, alongside assistant Julian Dicks, and his side got off to a winning start at the weekend. But he is still eyeing reinforcements at the back after losing Craig Dawson and Tosin Adarabioyo.

West Ham starlet Alese is one of West Brom’s targets. The 18-year-old is yet to make his West Ham debut but he has featured in training with Manuel Pellegrini’s senior squad.

West Brom could offer Alese the chance to develop his game with regular Championship football. But at the moment, West Brom and West Ham stand apart on this deal because of the sizeable loan fee demanded by the Irons.

West Ham see Alese as a star for the future. The teenager has been a regular in the U18 side and stepped up to play plenty of U23 football last season. With Reece Oxford and Josh Pask now gone, Alese is seen as the premier central defender in the academy.

But a loan deal is the best option for him right now. The England U18 starlet needs to prove he can step up and compete in the Championship before returning to West Ham.

In the future, West Ham could see Issa Diop, Goncalo Cardoso and Alese all competing for the starting centre-back spots. If all three achieve their potential and stay at West Ham, then this is a position that would be sorted for years to come.
