According to a report from Spanish media outlet El Periodico Mediterraneo, Villarreal striker Karl Toko Ekambi’s agent has offered his client to West Ham and Newcastle for €25 million (£21.4 million).

Both the Hammers and the Magpies could do with another forward this month.

West Ham need more competition for the misfiring Sebastien Haller, whilst Newcastle have a number of injuries to deal with in the attacking department.

And Spanish media outlet El Periodico Mediterraneo claim that both Premier League sides could ease their problems in the final third by signing Villarreal striker Karl Toko Ekambi for £21.4 million this month.

Good value?

This is a difficult one.

The 27-year-old can play as a centre-forward or as a left winger, so that kind of versatility will surely appeal to West Ham and Newcastle.

Ekambi has been far from prolific this season in Spain, however, with just six goals and three assists to his name in 19 appearances for Villarreal.

And it would undoubtedly take him a while to adjust to the frenetic pace of the Premier League. Considering the fact that West Ham and Newcastle could do with someone who will hit the ground running, this might be one to avoid for both of them.

In this day and age, however, £21.4 million doesn’t go very far, so the east Londoners and the Tyneside outfit might just view the 22-capped Cameroon international as a gamble worth taking.
