According to a report from Sky Sports, Tottenham want to sign West Ham centre-back Issa Diop, but the defender could allegedly cost up to £50 million.

The 22-year-old joined the Hammers from Toulouse in the summer of 2018 for a fee believed to be worth £22 million, according to BBC Sport.

And the Frenchman has been a hit at the London Stadium, despite losing his place recently to Angelo Ogbonna.

Diop, standing at 6ft 4in tall, is a man mountain, and is very strong in the air. He has all the makings of a future superstar. And West Ham will desperately want to keep hold of him.

Sky Sports claim that Tottenham want to prise him away from the London Stadium, however, as a replacement for Jan Vertonghen.

He won’t come cheap, however. Sky Sports suggest that the Hammers will demand around £50 million for the 22-year-old. And the last thing they will want to do is sell Diop to their bitter London rivals.

Having paid just £22 million for the centre-back, however, West Ham will surely find it incredibly hard to resist an offer in the region of £50 million for him.

Jose Mourinho was a fan of Diop when he was in charge of Manchester United.

The Portuguse spoke to reporters after his side lost to the Hammers last year, as quoted by talkSPORT:

“Congratulations to the scout who found the 21-year-old kid, Diop. He was a monster and dominated every single duel. “

So it seems as though the rumour certainly has substance.

And West Ham insider ExWHUemployee confirmed that Mourinho is a fan of Diop, whilst stating that he believes a move to Tottenham for the Frenchman would be unlikely:
