A move to Tottenham Hotspur was touted to Jesse Lingard before he left Manchester United to join West Ham United on loan in January according to a report from the Manchester Evening News.
The 28-year-old has proven to be a sensational addition for the Hammers over the past two months or so.
Lingard has racked up six goals and three assists in just eight games for West Ham so far.
The Manchester Evening News claims that Jesse could have ended up at Spurs, however.
And how Jose Mourinho will wish that he brought the 26-capped England international to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium now.
It is no exaggeration to suggest that Lingard has been the best player in the Premier League since joining West Ham on loan in January.
Tottenham move ‘floated’ to Jesse Lingard before West Ham move
The Hammers fans will be delighted that David Moyes managed to sign the 28-year-old Manchester United owned ace in the end.
And the news that the east London outfit beat Spurs to his signature is the cherry on the cake.
With West Ham currently sitting in fourth spot in the Premier League table, three points ahead of Tottenham, the signing of Lingard could end up being truly massive.
If the Hammers finish above Spurs this season, it will go down as a sensational campaign for Moyes’s men.
And it wouldn’t have been possible without Jesse Lingard. The £75k-a-week ace has been truly superb since January.
Now we just have to make sure that we sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.
