According to a report from the Daily Mail, the opportunity to join West Ham rather than West Brom appeals to Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz.
Both the Hammers and the Baggies are keen to sign the 27-year-old in January (Daily Mail).
West Ham and West Brom could both do with signing an established centre-forward in January.
It seems as though the Hammers are in a better position than the Baggies in the race to sign Los Blancos ace Mariano Diaz, however.
The Daily Mail claims that the Dominican Republic international isn’t keen on linking up with Slaven Bilic at the Hawthorns. A move to the London Stadium to play for David Moyes allegedly appeals to the Real Madrid ace, however.
Mariano rejoined Madrid from Lyon in the summer of 2018 for around £23 million, according to a report from the Sun.
The 27-year-old has struggled under Zinedine Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu, however, with just five goals in 27 games to his name since returning to the Spanish capital (Transfermarkt).
Mariano is a decent finisher, however. He racked up 21 goals in 45 games for Lyon during the 2017/18 campaign, and that kind of goals-to-games ratio would make a massive difference for West Ham from January to May.
The Madrid ace could end up taking us to another level. And West Brom fans will surely be disappointed if Bilic does end up missing out on Mariano.
