According to an exclusive report from Football.London, West Ham have not ruled out selling Manuel Lanzini this summer.

The 27-year-old joined West Ham on loan in the summer of 2015, before making his switch a permanent one the following summer for around £9 million (The Guardian).

He has endured a miserable last 18 months with the Hammers, however. The Argentine quite simply hasn’t looked the same player since suffering a serious injury whilst on international duty with Argentina in the build-up to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

David Moyes tried to play Lanzini throughout his poor spell of form. But that didn’t work.

Emphatic fall from grace

The South American was banished to the bench for West Ham’s last few games before football was suspended because of the global health crisis.

And Football.London claims that the Hammers have not ruled out cashing in on Lanzini this summer, with funds expected to be tight.

His confidence must be at an absolute all-time low.

Would selling him be Moyes’s decision?

The former River Plate man, who earns £70,000 per week according to Spotrac, has racked up just two assists in 19 Premier League outings for the Hammers since the start of the campaign (Who Scored).

David Moyes clearly loves Lanzini, however. The Scot told Football.London:

“My thought is he is arguably one of our best players, if not our best player. When I was here before I needed him as much as I needed Marko Arnautovic. He was such a good player for us and I am desperate to get him back to the levels he was at. I trust him, I believe he can get back to those levels. At the moment he is our flair, he is our person that might makes the difference. There is nobody more behind him than me.”

So it will be interesting to see whether the decision to sell or keep the 27-year-old is taken out of Moyes’s hands this summer.
