West Ham have recently been linked with a move for Aston Villa star John McGinn. According to The Daily Mail, Aston Villa are trying to tie McGinn down to a new long-term contract to fend off interest from West Ham and Leicester City.

But now Manchester United have entered the race. And the transfer fees being discussed suggest that West Ham and Leicester will be blown out of the water.

According to The Sun, Man United are prepared to make a sensational £50m bid for McGinn. Aston Villa signed the 23-year-old from Hibernian for just £2.75m last summer. But he could now make a colossal move.

McGinn oozed class in the Championship last season, scoring seven and assisting 10 more to guide Aston Villa to promotion. He is an elegant left-footed midfielder and is equally capable defensively and going forward.

But this is not a priority for West Ham, especially with these £50m rumours. The Scotland international would join a talented midfield department at West Ham.

Manuel Pellegrini has already spent big money on Pablo Fornals this summer. And with Jack Wilshere, Mark Noble, Manuel Lanzini and others competing for spots, West Ham do not need another central midfielder this summer.
