Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is actively trying to sell long-term West Ham target Marko Grujic for around £18.3 million, according to a report from German media outlet Kicker.
In other news…’We’re literally a joke’: Some West Ham fans livid at English defender loan deal rumour
ESPN reported two-and-a-half years ago that the Hammers wanted to sign the 24-year-old Reds ace.
And interestingly enough, David Moyes was the manager of West Ham then.
The Hammers boss needs to bolster his defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer. It could also argued that we need another established centre-forward.
But our deficiencies in central midfield are being overlooked because of our desperation to strengthen in other areas.
And with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp allegedly actively trying move Mark Grujic on from Anfield for £18.3 million, West Ham could very well revive their interest in the Serbia international.
The 24-year-old Reds ace could be a very useful addition to our squad.
Stats
The Serbia international spent last season on loan with Hertha Berlin.
The defensive midfielder played 29 Bundesliga games and racked up four goals and one assist in the process (Who Scored).
In those outings, Grujic averaged 1.9 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 2.3 clearances and 1.5 dribbles per game. He made 37.6 passes on average per game with a completion rate of 78.7% (Who Scored).
The Serbian ace is a top class player and at 24, he fits perfectly into the age profile of players David Moyes wants to bring to the London Stadium.
£18.3 million is probably too much money for West Ham to spend on a central midfielder. But with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp allegedly so desperate to sell, perhaps we could convince the Reds to part ways with Grujic for a reduced fee.
And the Serbian ace would give us a really strong central midfield alongside Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice.
