Report: Issa Diop is player most likely to leave West Ham in January

According to a report from the Express, Issa Diop is the player most likely to leave West Ham in January.

The 22-year-old joined the Hammers from Toulouse in the summer of 2018 for around £22 million (BBC Sport).

Diop has gone on to make 54 appearances for West Ham, and despite losing his place in the team recently, he has really impressed on the most part.

Sky Sports claimed last week that Tottenham want to sign the £50 million-rated French centre-back.

And now the Express are claiming that Diop, who earns £67,000 per week at the London Stadium according to Spotrac, is the player most likely to leave the Hammers in January.

Verdict

In truth, this makes no sense whatsoever.

West Ham have plenty of players they need to get rid of. The likes of Carlos Sanchez, Roberto and Jack Wilshere are all surely more likely than Diop to leave the London Stadium next month.

The 22-year-old is a very important player for West Ham’s future.

And it could be argued that the Hammers should keep hold of him, even if they are offered £50 million for his services.

Much will depend on how the owners view the situation. David Sullivan and David Gold are notorious for their penchant for making quick profits. And if they receive a big money bid for Diop in January, it would be no surprise to see him moved on.
