West Ham have contacted Inter Milan to find out whether Valentino Lazaro is available.
According to FC Inter News, Inter Milan have swiftly dismissed West Ham’s enquiry about Lazaro. The Serie A club are not ready to let the winger go just months after his £20m summer move.
Inter signed Lazaro from Hertha Berlin in July. Since then, he has struggled for game time. This would have prompted West Ham to enquire about his availability – probably on loan.
Lazaro has played five games for Inter now (three in the league and two in the Champions League). But he is yet to complete 90 minutes and recently returned to the bench after two consecutive starts. Despite his lack of game time, Inter want to keep him at the club.
Who is Valentino Lazaro?
Lazaro is a versatile player who predominantly operates on the right-wing. He is also comfortable on the opposite flank and he has been known to play at right-back in the past.
The Austria international is team-mates with Marko Arnautovic when it comes to national duty. The pair have linked up well in the past and Lazaro has three goals in just under 30 caps for his country.
Lazaro’s domestic career has spanned three countries and four clubs. In addition to playing in Italy with Inter and Germany with Hertha Berlin, the 23-year-old started his career with Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. He also had a loan spell at FC Liefering.
West Ham need an injection of pace and creativity on the wings. But it doesn’t look like Lazaro will be joining in January – despite the club’s efforts to sign him.
