Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are the latest clubs to join the race for West Ham target Olivier Giroud.
According to Football London, the race for Giroud is hotting up as these two Champions League clubs join the hunt. Crystal Palace are also keen on the Frenchman, who was dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Giroud has fallen behind Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi in Frank Lampard’s thoughts. He did start against West Ham but Chelsea are now thinking about striker signings with the transfer ban lifted.
West Ham or European contenders?
West Ham have been strongly linked with Giroud in the past. With a lack of strikers becoming one of the many problems at West Ham, Claret & Hugh reported that he could be brought in this January.
But West Ham are now just one club in a long list of potential suitors. Giroud knows he needs to leave Chelsea this winter. The 33-year-old is not getting the game time he needs to show Didier Deschamps why he should be in the France squad for Euro 2020.
This is potentially Giroud’s last opportunity to represent France at a major tournament. Will he choose to stay in London after spells with Arsenal and Chelsea? Or will he opt for a move abroad and a European challenge instead?
