One of West Ham United’s key players is a reported January transfer target for Italian giants Inter Milan.
According to Corriere dello Sport (print edition (November 15th, page 6), Inter Milan are set to test West Ham United’s resolve in the January transfer window.
Hammers boss David Moyes has to make a couple of strong additions this winter, if we are to make a real fist of the Europa League and push for the top seven in the Premier League this season.
However, there may well be some outgoings as well, with plenty of deadwood needed to be cleared, if Moyes is to make any new signings.
Someone who definitely won’t be leaving in January is Tomas Soucek – that’s because he signed a new four-year deal back in the summer.
However, the Italian media seem to have completely missed this by suggesting that Inter could take advantage of the fact that the 28-year-old doesn’t have too long remaining on his current contract at the London Stadium…

Italian media get it wrong again with January transfer claim about West Ham ace Tomas Soucek
Corriere dello Sport are claiming that Inter Milan could sign the Czech Republic international on the cheap this winter, due to the fact that he’s close to being out of contract with the Hammers.
As mentioned earlier, this could not be further from the truth, and it amazes me how major outlets around the world continue to get this oh so wrong.
Moyes is quite clearly a huge fan of the former Slavia Prague man, and almost always starts him in our most important games.
Soucek is obviously a vital player for Moyes. He has played 810 Premier League minutes already this season, and has been given 312 minutes combined in the Carabao Cup and Europa League as well (Who Scored).
There is plenty wrong with the midfielder’s game – his passing and control leave a lot to be desired and he often slows down our play in transition. However, he has the heart of a lion and always puts everything on the line.
There is absolutely no way that Tomas Soucek will leave West Ham anytime soon as far as I’m concerned. Hopefully these stories will die down after the January transfer window closes.
It would help if the Italian media realised that he won’t be out of contract until the summer of 2027 as well.
