The future of West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez has been the centre of much speculation all summer long.
The Mexican was expected to leave West Ham with links to MLS and La Liga (AS).
Indeed Hernandez told Naked Humans YouTube blog he and the club had agreed it would be best for him to move on.
Hernandez still a Hammer
But with just over one week left of the transfer window Hernandez remains a West Ham player.
Instead Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic have departed.
Only Sebastien Haller has arrived in their place.
That means Chicharito is likely to face a similar situation to last season under Manuel Pellegrini where he is not first choice.
Will he stay of or will he go?
The biggest hint Hernandez is set to remain in East London to see out the last year of his contract came when he changed his shirt number to Carroll’s vacant No.9 recently (whufc.com).
Even despite that, though, rumours persisted of a potential move to MLS, to Valladolid in La Liga (Football Insider) or even Brazil with Flamengo as West Ham seek to raise funds for a second new striker.
Now a new report from ESPN in America claims Hernandez would prefer to stay at West Ham than move to the US.
ESPN quotes ‘several different sources’ when claiming Hernandez ‘isn’t eyeing a move to MLS at this stage of his career’.

Time is running out if Pellegrini does intend to flip the 31-year-old striker for a new player.
The Premier League’s transfer window closes at 5pm next Thursday August 8th.
It seems highly likely Hernandez will remain a West Ham player when the window closes.
