According to a report from Turkish media outlet Fotospor, Fenerbahce are interested in signing West Ham left-back Arthur Masuaku this month.
The 26-year-old, who earns £40,000 per week according to Spotrac, joined the Hammers in the summer of 2016 for around £6 million (Sky Sports).
He has struggled to establish himself at the London Stadium, however.
Masuaku has made 85 appearances for West Ham, but has never really convinced.
The former Olympiacos man has looked impressive in spells when deployed in a more attacking role. He is often found wanting defensively, however.
He is currently behind Aaron Cresswell in the left-back pecking order at the London Stadium.
Turkish publication Fotospor claims that 19-time Super Lig winners Fenerbahce want to sign the 26-year-old this month, as they look for a new left-back.
They suggests that the club’s sporting director Damien Comolli has already held talks with West Ham regarding a possible move for Masuaku.
Good time to sell
There is no mention of any kind of fee that Fener would be prepared to pay for Masuaku. But if the Hammers can get more than they signed him for, they should seriously consider letting him go this month.
But only if they bring in a top class replacement.
West Ham have been linked with a move for Layvin Kurzawa (Foot Mercato). And the Frenchman would certainly be an upgrade on the 26-year-old.
The Democratic Republic of Congo international has had three-and-a-half years to establish himself in east London.
Masuaku quite simply hasn’t done enough since joining the Hammers. And now might just be the right time to move him on.
