Everton are plotting a surprise January bid for West Ham United winger Felipe Anderson according to a report from TEAMtalk.
The 27-year-old Hammers man has really struggled over the past 12 months or so.
He was farmed out on loan to Porto in October but things haven’t gone to plan at all for him in Portugal.
Felipe Anderson has hardly played. West Ham have suffered as well because his value has been dwindling by the day.
Having made such a bright start to his Hammers career after moving to the London Stadium for £34 million in the summer of 2018 (The Times), the Brazilian seems to be an absolute shadow of his former self now.
Perhaps the 27-year-old speed demon needs to join a new club permanently in order to reinvigorate his career.
Felipe Anderson Everton bound?
TEAMtalk claims that Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to bring Anderson to Goodison Park from West Ham this month.
It is claimed that Ancelotti knows the South American Hammers ace well from his days in Italy.
Previous rules would have prevented Felipe Anderson from representing three different clubs in one season. Because of the global health crisis, however, the rules have been eased this term.
The 27-year-old has been so poor for the Hammers since the midway point of the 2019/20 campaign. And the opportunity to raise further funds will surely appeal to the West Ham board.
The Hammers would get nowhere near what they paid for Anderson, however. And having already lost £25 million on Sebastien Haller, another heavy loss would be hard to stomach for the club.
Perhaps a loan move to Everton would be the ideal outcome for all parties involved.
