Everton are the latest club to enter the race for Alexis Claude-Maurice. According to Football.London, Everton will go head-to-head with Arsenal and West Ham for Lorient striker Claude-Maurice.
West Ham have been linked with Claude-Maurice in recent weeks. The Hammers reportedly bid £10m for the France U20 striker, according to Sky Sports News.
But Claude-Maurice has various options on the table. If Lorient accept offers, Claude-Maurice can choose between Arsenal, Everton and West Ham.
Both Everton and West Ham will hope to push for Europe next season. And Arsenal could offer Claude-Maurice the chance to play Europa League football next term.
Where would Alexis Claude-Maurice fit in at West Ham?
West Ham will be trying to sign at least one new striker this summer. Claude-Maurice is one of four on West Ham’s wishlist, alongside Maxi Gomez, Salomon Rondon and Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to The Guardian.
Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez have already departed West Ham this summer. And Javier Hernandez could leave too. This leaves some vacancies in the attacking department.
Claude-Maurice would be a gamble, especially at £10m, but he is highly rated. After scoring 14 goals in 35 Ligue 2 matches last season, the 21-year-old has caught the eye.
West Ham could solve their problem position for the long-term future if they win the race for Claude-Maurice and he fulfils his potential.
