The highest tax band in the UK is close to 50% so that means the Hammers would have to pay the 32-year-old around £100k-a-week.

West Ham have been linked with a move to bring the 87-capped Austria international back to the London Stadium since claims emerged that the forward is trying to cancel his contract with Shanghai Port.

Arnautovic left the Hammers under acrimonious circumstances two years ago, however.

So there are questions being raised as to whether he would be welcome back at the London Stadium.

West Ham would have to offer Marko Arnautovic a handsome salary

That’s according to Tutto Mercato Web who claim that Arnie is demanding a two-year deal worth €3 million per year after tax. That equates to around £2.6 million or £50k-a-week.

Before tax of course, that would mean West Ham would have to pay him around £100k-a-week.

We just don’t think this is worth pursuing. There are better options out there for sure.

Arnautovic is far from popular in the East End. There would be more who wouldn’t want him back than who would.
