West Ham want to sign Sporting Lisbon winger Gonzalo Plata according to The Sun (Sunday November 29th, page 65).

Hammers boss David Moyes will be keen to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium in January.
In all honesty, however, a new winger will surely not be featuring anywhere near the top of the Scot’s list of priorities.
Nevertheless, The Sun (Sunday November 29th, page 65) claims that West Ham are in the race to sign Gonzalo Plata.

The 20-year-old is hot property and has a £45 million release clause (Record).
Sporting could be willing to accept a fee closer to £20 million, however (The Sun).
The eight-capped Ecuador international has racked up three goals and two assists in 29 games for the Portuguese outfit (Transfermarkt).
Plata can operate on either wing. He is a lively player with plenty of pace and has great potential to go on and become a truly top class player.

As mentioned earlier, however, the Ecuadorian is not a player we need right now.
Not only do we not need another winger, but spending £20 million on a 20-year-old with no Premier League experience would represent a huge risk for West Ham.
Moyes should be looking to sign a centre-back, a central midfielder and a centre-forward in January or next summer.
Plata could very well be a star of the future. The Hammers have more pressing concerns at the moment, however.
