West Ham United boss David Moyes will reportedly build his team around a surprise trio next season.

With football shut down for the foreseeable future there is much to be resolved to end the current campaign let alone plan for the next one.

The coronavirus pandemic has seen the Premier League – and indeed virtually all sport – on hold until April 30th at the earliest.

It leaves West Ham’s battle against relegation in limbo.

It remains unclear how such issues will be decided. The 20 Premier Clubs will continue discussions over potential scenarios and timescales (Sky Sports) this month.

Moyes planning new-look West Ham

But as and when the next transfer window does come around, Moyes faces a host of decisions.

The Scot has been selling supporters his vision of a new-look West Ham built around young, hungry talent (whufc.com).

The signings of Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek are examples of Moyes putting his plan into action.

And a new report from The Daily Star claims the West Ham boss will shape his new team around three players already at the club next season.

Hammers boss wants sees surprise trio as key

Midfielder Josh Cullen and attacker Grady Diangana are both on loan in the Championship with Charlton and West Bromwich Albion respectively.

And The Daily Star claims the pair will be a key part of the West Ham side next term alongside forgotten man Jack Wilshere.

The former Gunners star has spent most of his first two seasons at West Ham out injured.

The enforced break gives Wilshere a real chance to get fully fit and play some part this season.

The Daily Star says Wilshere will be a key player in a British spine Moyes wants to build.

The report also claims Moyes will supplement the trio with more signings of top young talent from the Championship.

Wilshere in spine of British side

“David Moyes wants to buy British this summer and build an exciting young core at West Ham,” The Daily Star reports.

“The Hammers boss wants to boost the number of homegrown players in his squad and will scour the Championship for signings.

“Jarrod Bowen has been a huge hit since his £22m arrival from Hull in January and Moyes is keen to find similar talent.

“He already intends to add Grady Diangana and Josh Cullen to his squad when the pair return from loan spells at West Brom and Charlton respectively. But Moyes also hopes to be able to call on former Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere next season once he recovers from his latest injury.”

The claim comes as a little bit of a surprise given all three had uncertain futures.

West Ham were reportedly considering trying to agree a pay off to release Wilshere (Football Insider).

And Cullen was expected to be sold to a Championship club after failing to convince a series of West Ham managers he was first team material.

Diangana is less of a shock given his superb performances on loan at West Brom this season.

But question marks remain as to whether he can do it consistently at the top level.
