West Ham United striker target Olivier Giroud has made his mind up on his future.

That’s according to new reports emerging from Italy.

West Ham have been consistently linked with a move for the Chelsea outcast for some time.

Ahead of the January transfer window The Sun reported West Ham’s interest.

And reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee confirmed the claims when speaking on the West Ham Way Podcast (Tuesday, February 4th).

“There was some talk of going for Giroud (within the club), but things didn’t work out there,” ExWHUemployee said on the popular West Ham Way podcast.

Giroud is available on a free transfer this summer.

And Hammers boss David Moyes will be on the lookout for value reinforcements given the financial crisis caused by the global health crisis.

But the French forward has apparently made his mind up to join Inter Milan in the next window and is even winning to take a huge pay cut to make it happen.

As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport, Giroud is ready to take a significant hit on his current wages of £135,000-per-week.

West Ham have been desperately short up front all season.

Giroud’s compatriot Sebastien Haller has struggled in the lone striker role. The former Frankfurt man had scored just seven goals in 28 games in his debut campaign before the lockdown.

Haller has looked much more comfortable with a partner.

A Gallic duo of Haller and Giroud would have been an interesting combination.

It would also have given Moyes an experienced, proven option even if Giroud does not fit the Scot’s stated philosophy of signing young, hungry players (whufc.com).

Giroud had previously stated his desire to remain in London, where he has spent much of his career having played for Arsenal before Chelsea.

And he is unlikely to get more game time at Inter where Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are the undisputed first choice pairing.

The Hammers target turns 34 next season and had scored three goals in 13 appearances across all competitions this term.
