According to a report from Buzzsport, West Ham, Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle are all set to battle it out for Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson. And the Hammers might just have an advantage in the race to sign the 25-year-old.

That’s because Buzzsport claims that Marseille chief executive Paul Aldridge is leading the attempts to move the Frenchman on.

The Englishman was formerly the chief executive at West Ham. And he still has very good connections at the London Stadium, according to French media outlet Le 10 Sport.

And now Buzzsport suggest that Aldridge has been tasked with the job of finding a new club for Sanson this summer. They also suggest that West Ham, Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle are set for a summer transfer tussle for the talented midfielder.

Stats

The 25-year-old has racked up five goals and five assists in 27 Ligue 1 outings for Marseille this season (Transfermarkt).

In those appearances, the Frenchman has averaged 30.1 passes per game, with a very impressive completion rate of 85.9%. He has also averaged 1.1 key passes per game (Who Scored).

Sanson puts in a shift defensively too.

In 27 league appearances, he has averaged 2.2 tackles and 0.9 interceptions per game (Who Scored).

The Marseille ace really does seem to be a wonderful all-round player.

Le 10 Sport claimed recently that Sanson could be picked up for as little as €20 million (£17 million) this summer. And that would represent great value for West Ham, Aston Villa, Everton or Newcastle.

As mentioned earlier, however, the Hammers might just have the upper hand on their Premier League rivals.
