West Ham were allegedly monitoring the towering central defender throughout the course of the summer transfer window.

Aguerd has been out injured since pre-season though, and Craig Dawson is out with a thigh problem. In addition to that Angelo Ogbonna is not yet match fit.

West Ham tried to sign Odilon Kossounou on deadline day

The Sun reckon that the Hammers submitted a measly £1 million loan offer for the Ivory Coast international on deadline day.

It’s no surprise that a paltry offer like that got rejected.

The 21-year-old would have been a truly brilliant signing for West Ham. Not only is he an excellent centre-back but he can also operate at right-back and defensive midfield if need be.

Perhaps Moyes will go back in for him in January.

In 27 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen last season, Kossounou averaged one tackle, one interception and 2.2 clearances per game (Who Scored).

During those outings, he made 40.3 passes per match and recorded an impressive completion rate of 82.4% (Who Scored).

Football Talent Scout describe the Ivorian as a ‘crazy talent’.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, the Leverkusen ace possesses an imposing physique and has all of the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.

We would absolutely love to see West Ham sign Odilon Kossounou either in January or next summer.
