According to a report from the Daily Star, fears are growing at West Ham that Declan Rice may one day have to be sold.

The 21-year-old has arguably been the Hammers best and most consistent player over the past two years.

Rice has made 100 appearances in all competition for West Ham, and he could still go on to make many more.

He is still under contract with the Hammers until the summer of 2024.

But the Daily Star claims that there are concerns at the London Stadium that the seven-capped England international may one day have to be sold.

West Ham boss David Moyes is clearly a big fan of Rice. The Scot has started the youngster in every game since returning as manager at the end of December.

But Moyes himself admitted earlier this year that the 21-year-old could be sold, as quoted by the Express:

“In my mind he is arguably the best holding midfield player in the country. Quite often when building a club you have to sell. I hope it’s not the case with Declan but I said the same with Wayne Rooney and Joleon Lescott [at Everton]. But the team got better because we were able to sign the right players to replace them. If that ever came around [Rice leaving] I’d hope we’d be able to do the same here as well.”

The Daily Star claimed earlier this year that West Ham could be willing to sell Rice. But for nothing less than £80 million.

The Daily Mail claimed that Manchester United are keen to sign the 21-year-old.

The Hammers fans would obviously be gutted to lose Rice. But it might just be impossible for them to resist an approach for him, especially if they are offered somewhere in the region of £80 million.

The Englishman is a key player at the London Stadium. But everyone has a price.
