Report claims West Ham could sign Galatasaray ace Christian Luyindama for just £9 million

West Ham United can sign long-term target Christian Luyindama from Galatasaray for just £9 million this month, according to a report from Turkish media outlet Sampiy 10.

Hammers boss David Moyes should be prioritising a move for a new centre-forward this month.

And it is clear that West Ham are doing their utmost to bring an established striker to the London Stadium.

Our desperation to sign a new centre-forward should not distract from our need to strengthen other areas of the squad, however.

On paper, West Ham seem to be fairly well covered in the centre-back department.

West Ham should seriously consider signing Christian Luyindama

Upon closer inspection, however, we definitely need to strengthen our options at centre-back.

Angelo Ogbonna has been brilliant over the past two years but he will be 33 in May. Fabian Balbuena will soon be 30 and Craig Dawson is already on the wrong side of 30.

Aaron Cresswell has performed well, but he is not a natural centre-back.

And with that in mind, Galatasaray ace Christian Luyindama would be a wise option for the Hammers.

According to a report from Turkish media outlet Takvim, David Moyes wants to bring the 6ft 3in Democratic Republic of Congo international to the London Stadium this summer.

The 26-year-old has been described as a player with the ‘heart of a warrior’ by Galatasaray chairman Mustafa Cengiz (

The 11-capped Democratic Republic of Congo international ace is clearly a top class defender.

Christian Luyindama Stats

In 13 Super Lig appearances for Gala, the 27-year-old has averaged 0.6 tackles, two interceptions, 3.9 clearances and 0.5 blocks per game. He has also won an average of 3.6 aerial duals per match during those outings (Who Scored).

The Congolese enter-back is a very solid operator and he would be a very good addition for West Ham. Especially for the reported fee of just £9 million.

The Hammers won’t have things all their own way, however, with Everton and Aston Villa thought to be in the race for Luyindama’s signature (Sampiy 10).
