According to a report from Claret and Hugh, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to land a new striker in January, as well as a centre-back.
The Hammers have made a decent start to their Premier League campaign. They currently sit in eighth spot in the table, just four points adrift of second.
Pellegrini spent heavily in the summer, and many are tipping West Ham to make a strong push for the top six this season.
It could be argued that the Hammers are slightly short up front, however. Pellegrini signed Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti in the summer, but the latter has still not been used in a Premier League game thus far.
And Claret and Hugh claims that the Chilean is keen to bring a new striker to the London Stadium in January, although it might just be a loan deal.
Sad indictment on Ajeti…
The Swiss ace has only been used in the cup competitions this season. And if Pellegrini does indeed want to sign a new front-man, it would be a real kick in the teeth for the former Basel hitman.
The 22-year-old, who earns £50,000 per week according to Sky Sports, must be wondering what he has to do to force his way into the team. Even a 10-minute cameo in the Premier League would be a start.
If West Ham do sign a new striker in January, however, Ajeti’s days at the London Stadium could already be numbered.
