Hammers boss David Moyes chose not to bring a new striker to the London Stadium in January.

It seems like a strange decision at the time and now it just seems like a plain crazy one.

It’s not too late to make amends, however.

West Ham can still sign a free agent if they so choose.

West Ham to swoop in for Ahmed Musa?

90 Min claims that the Hammers could make a move to sign the former Leicester City hitman on a free transfer.

West Ham were actually linked with a move for Musa, 28, a couple of months ago by TEAMtalk.

The 95-capped Nigeria international was signed by Leicester in the summer of 2016 for around £16 million (BBC). He struggled to establish himself in the Premier League with the Foxes, however.

Musa was swiftly shipped out on loan to CSKA Moscow before being sold permanently to Al-Nassr in the summer of 2018.

Despite his struggles in the Premier League with Leicester, signing Musa on a free wouldn’t be the worst the decision in the world. Beggars can’t be choosers after all.

The 28-year-old can play anywhere along the front-line. He possesses blistering pace and is a decent finisher when presented with a goalscoring opportunity.

The Nigerian does have 103 goals for club and country to his name. So he clearly has something about him.

West Ham signing Musa on a short-term deal until the end of the season would undoubtedly make sense.

And bringing him to the London Stadium would certainly be better than having nobody at all to compete with Michail Antonio aside from 18-year-old Mipo Odubeko.
