West Ham are allegedly keen to sign Real Betis left-back Alex Moreno in the summer (Grada 3).
And Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo have claimed that a mystery English club are prepared to make an offer for the 26-year-old.
Given the recent links, it would be no surprise if the club was West Ham.
Moreno has a €40million (£37million) release clause in his deal (Estadio Deportivo). It is unclear, however, whether Betis would be willing to sell the Spaniard for any less than that.
The 26-year-old has racked up four assists in 23 La Liga appearances for Betis this season (Transfermarkt).
In those 23 outings, Moreno has averaged 1.4 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 1.6 clearances per game (Who Scored).
He is clearly an attacking full-back, with four assists to his name. He also averages 1.6 dribbles per game (Who Scored), highlighting how much he likes to take on opposing defenders.
West Ham desperately need to sign a new left-back in the summer.
Aaron Cresswell has proven this season that he is well past his best. Arthur Masuaku, meanwhile, is quite clearly not good enough to perform consistently at the very highest level.
Moreno seems like he would be a great addition to the Hammers’ squad.
But whether West Ham would be prepared to pay anywhere near £37 million to secure his services remains to be seen.
