The Hammers and the Magpies will undoubtedly be keen to bolster their central midfield ranks this summer.

West Ham could have their work-cut-out, however.

The Toon are on the verge of being taken over by a Saudi-backed consortium in a £300million deal (The Sun). And they will undoubtedly have more spending power than the east London outfit.

Both West Ham and Newcastle will fancy their chances of signing Sanson.

French media outlet Foot Mercato claims that Marseille could be forced to sell the 25-year-old.

According to a report from French media outlet Le 10 Sport, the Hammers and the Magpies both want the Marseille midfielder.

And he would be a superb addition for either West Ham or Newcastle.

Stats

Sanson has racked up five goals and five assists in 27 Ligue 1 outings for Marseille this season (Transfermarkt).

In those appearances, the Frenchman has averaged 30.1 passes per game, with a very impressive completion rate of 85.9%. He has also averaged 1.1 key passes per game (Who Scored).

The 25-year-old clearly isn’t afraid to put in a defensive shift either.

In 27 league appearances, Sanson has averaged 2.2 tackles and 0.9 interceptions per game (Who Scored).

Le 10 Sport claims that the French ace could be picked up for around £22 million this summer.

David Moyes and Steve Bruce could really do with a player like Sanson.

And £22 million will represent excellent value for either West Ham or Newcastle.
