According to a report from Sky Sports, Liverpool have received enquiries for Nathaniel Clyne, so could one of them have been from West Ham?

The 28-year-old right-back joined the Reds from Southampton in the summer of 2015, for around £12.5 million.

Despite initially impressing at Anfield, Clyne has played second fiddle to Trent Alexander-Arnold over the past couple of seasons. He spent the second half of last term on loan at Bournemouth, but returned to Liverpool in the summer.

Sky Sports claimed that he could be allowed to leave the Reds this month, and that the Merseyside outfit have already received numerous enquiries for the full-back.

So could the Hammers be one of the interested clubs in Clyne?

The east London outfit have been interested in the Reds man before. Sky Sports claimed in the summer that they wanted to sign the 28-year-old.

West Ham desperately need a new right-back. Pablo Zabaleta is set to leave at the end of this season, and the jury is still out on Ryan Fredericks.

Clyne would be a superb addition for the Hammers. He possesses blistering pace, and offers just as much in the final third as he does defensively.

The Liverpool ace is incredibly experienced, and would provide excellent competition for Fredericks. He would also surely help bring out the best in the former Fulham man.

Clyne is out of contract in the summer, so he could be available for a bargain fee this month.

And if West Ham are not one of the clubs who have enquired about his potential availability, they really should be.

The Liverpool right-back is just the kind of signing the Hammers need.
