Midfield target Gary Medel is so intent on finally securing a move to West Ham United in the summer he is willing to take drastic action.

West Ham were heavily linked with a move for the ‘Chilean pitbull’ Medel throughout January.

Sky Sports claimed the Hammers wanted the former Inter Milan midfield enforcer and negotiations reached an advanced stage (Daily Star).

Pellegrini wants compatriot at West Ham

Manuel Pellegrini wanted to bring his fellow Chilean to East London. But his current club Besiktas played hardball and the move failed to materialise.

After the window closed Pellegrini admitted he regretted the club’s failure to land ex Cardiff City man Medel.

Now it seems the player will take matters into his own hands this summer to finally force through the move.

Medel takes matters into his own hands

Turkish outlet Super Haber claims Besiktas have struck a deal to allow Medel to join West Ham this summer after the player agreed to pay up the final year of his contract.

 

Cardiff paid a club record £11m to Sevilla for Medel in 2013.

As a result of relegation the Bluebirds sold him to Inter Milan for £10m the following year.

Medel is the wrong side of 30 but has vast experience.

Chile reception for midfielder?

He has won 118 caps for Chile. And he also appeared at the 2014 World Cup having scored the goal that assured qualification.

If Super Haber are right, Medel’s likely arrival at the London Stadium will not go down well with one particular Hammers legend.
