Report claims David Moyes wants Monaco defender Fode Ballo Toure at West Ham but it looks like a non-starter

West Ham United seem to be on a mission all of a sudden in the January transfer market.

After going most of January with only Darren Randolph to show in the window, David Moyes has now landed Czech midfielder Tomas Soucek (whufc.com).

And the Hammers have been linked with a plethora of other midfielders, right-backs and forwards too.

With Ryan Fredericks injured and Pablo Zabaleta having turned 35 this month, West Ham’s need for a new right back has become more acute as the season has wore on.

Moyes in the market for full-back?

In truth even when fit, Fredericks has failed to establish himself at West Ham.

On the other flank Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku have been equally unconvincing.

Now according to reports from France, Moyes wants to bring Monaco defender Fode Ballo Toure to the London Stadium.

Foot Mercato and Get French Football News claim that the 23-year-old – who can operate at both right and left back – is the subject of several last-minute offers in this January window, including from West Ham.

Hammers in for versatile Toure?

Toure has slowly worked his way back into the Monaco side after being frozen out by former boss Leonardo Jardim.

According to the Foot Mercato report West Ham face competition from Crystal Palace and Schalke. Both clubs are said to have been “watching his performances with interest.”

A delve into the original source in France, though, make it clear Monaco have no intention of letting Toure leave.

Non-starter?

So this one looks like a bit of a non-starter for West Ham.

Particularly as the Hammers have been trying to do loan deals with an option to buy in the summer in light of their precarious position in the Premier League.

West Ham have also been linked with right-backs Rasmus Kristensen (Daily Mail), Joakim Mahle (ExWHUemployee) and Matty Cash (Sky Sports).
