West Ham United boss David Moyes will reportedly set limits on new signings in the next window.
According to a report in The Mirror West Ham and Newcastle will battle it out for Manchester United outcast Phil Jones when the transfer market next opens.
West Ham were in the thick of an intense relegation battle when the league was halted last week due to the coronavirus outbreak.
No football will be played until April 30th at the earliest.
Pandemic giving Moyes time to plan strategy?
Hammers boss Moyes may be using the time to thrash out his stated plan to build a new-look West Ham around young, hungry players.
According to a new report from well connected West Ham website Claret & Hugh, the Scot has set an age ceiling with a caveat on new signings.
And it would all but rule out a move for injury-prone 28-year-old Jones.

“Moyes has already confirmed he is only interested in players aged 25 or under unless they are exceptional and Jones doesn’t meet that criteria,” C&H claim.
“Moyes is likely to look towards the Championship and Europe to find young, hungry and cheaper alternatives with a limited budget this summer.”
It stems from Moyes selling his future vision of a better, stronger West Ham to fans since returning to the club (whufc.com).
Bown and Soucek give glimpse of manager’s plan
The excellent signings of duo Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek – 23 and 25 respectively – give an indicator of the Moyes blueprint.
If West Ham can stay up it promises to be a refreshing stance.
For years the Hammers have become known as a club paying over the odds for big names or faded foreign stars.
Legend Joe Cole even admitted some players see West Ham as a club to get one last big payday and take a holiday in the twilight of their careers (BT Sport).
Moyes wants to stop all of that. And West Ham fans would be 100% behind him in his thinking.
