The race for Pedro Obiang has hotted up. According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Bologna are determined to sign West Ham midfielder Obiang and have come in with a fresh approach.
Obiang has been linked with a back to Italy, four seasons after joining from Sampdoria. Several clubs in Italy are keen on bringing the West Ham man back to Serie A.
In January, Fiorentina nearly signed Obiang for £10m (Sky Sports News) and they could swoop again. His former club Sampdoria want him back, alongside Roma, according to EXWHUEmployee.
But at the end of last month, Bologna entered the race (Calciomercato). They were then joined by Parma, who planned to sign Obiang on loan with an option to buy (Parma Today).
However, this appears to have prompted Bologna to press ahead with this deal. The Italian top-flight club, who finished 10th last season, have made new contact with West Ham over this move, Alfredo Pedulla reports. Bologna believe Obiang can add class to their midfield ranks.
Pedro Obiang: Sell or keep?

West Ham need to decide whether to keep or sell Obiang this summer. He is down the pecking order at West Ham and Pablo Fornals’ arrival is likely to limit his game time even more.
If Manuel Lanzini and Jack Wilshere stay fit for the season, Obiang will be surplus to requirements. It might be time for the Hammers to cash in on the 27-year-old after four years and 116 games for the East London club.
Selling Obiang would boost West Ham’s war-chest. This could be used to bring in a new holding midfielder or help to fund a new striker move.
