According to a report from Spanish media outlet DB, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are keen to sign West Ham centre-back Issa Diop in the summer.

The 23-year-old joined the Hammers from Toulouse in the summer of 2018 for around £22.5 million (The Mirror).

And the Mirror claimed a couple of days ago that Arsenal are plotting a summer bid for the Frenchman.

West Ham will allegedly not sell Diop for anything less than £45 million, however.

In 23 Premier League games this season, Diop has racked up 24 tackles, 39 interceptions and 122 clearances. He has also won 64% of his individual duals and 74% of his aerial battles (premierleague.com).

And DB claims that Barcelona and Atleti are plotting summer bids for the Hammers centre-back.

West Ham still hold all of the cards, however. Diop is still under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2023. So unless a big offer is made for the 23-year-old’s services, he won’t be going anywhere.

DB do claim that the Hammers could be forced to sell the Frenchman for just £36 million, however, if they get relegated this season.

The bottom line is that nobody actually knows when the transfer window will reopen, however.

And with the coronavirus having halted pretty much all European football at the moment, it is probably not even worth thinking about this potential transfer until there is a concrete date set for a return to action.
