According to reports in Spain, West Ham star Declan Rice is wanted by one of the top teams in Europe. Atletico Madrid are interested in Rice, according to El Gol Digital.

Rumours linking Rice with a move away from West Ham are inevitable given his excellent form this season. And now he seems to be attracting attention from abroad, as well as in England.

Rice has been a mainstay in midfield for Manuel Pellegrini after establishing himself as a regular starter earlier this season.

The 20-year-old already has more than 70 appearances under his belt, despite his young age, and he is one of West Ham’s top performing players.

Operating in a holding midfield role, the newly-capped England international is gaining widespread plaudits at both club and country level.

Declan Rice among Atletico Madrid targets

Rice’s form this season means that Atletico Madrid have taken notice. The Spanish club, who sit second in La Liga, could offer the youngster Champions League football.

According to El Gol Digital, Rice is one of three central midfielders lined up to replace exit-linked Thomas Partey. Wolves star Ruben Neves is their top choice but Rice and FC Porto’s Danilo Pereira are alternative options.

West Ham will be desperate to keep their prize asset, who has risen through the ranks since his move from Chelsea aged 14.

After Rice penned a new contract last season, West Ham fans hold high hopes for their homegrown midfielder. But Atletico Madrid could test the club’s resolve this summer.
