West Ham left-back Arthur Masuaku is wanted by three clubs this summer. According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are competing with Borussia Dortmund and Fiorentina for Masuaku.
The 25-year-old has options in England, Germany and Italy ahead of the 2019/20 season. But he might prefer to stay at West Ham now that he has regained his place in the starting line-up.
Arthur Masuaku at West Ham
Masuaku’s time at West Ham has been up and down. He has flitted in and out of the first-team, sharing the responsibility with Aaron Cresswell.
Under Manuel Pellegrini, the DR Congo international started the season as first-choice. But after a host of defensive errors, Cresswell was recalled for the middle part of the season.
However, Masuaku was called upon again recently. With Cresswell out injured, Masuaku had to step in against Manchester United. He produced an impressive display and has started four games since, taking his total tally to 23 Premier League appearances for the season.
Many West Ham fans feel Masuaku’s style of play is better suited when deployed further forward. His defensive side of the game could use some work but he often causes problems going forward.
Tottenham have obviously seen something in the attack-minded left-back, who could replace Danny Rose in North London.
Alternatively, Borussia Dortmund could offer Masuaku the chance to compete for the Bundesliga title. And Fiorentina have their eyes on a number of Hammers.
Fiorentina eye triple raid on West Ham
Masuaku is not the first West Ham player to be linked with Fiorentina. The Serie A club now have three Irons on their summer wishlist.
Edimilson Fernandes is on loan with Fiorentina and they are yet to make a decision on his future. The Swiss midfielder has played 28 games in the Italian top division.
But Vincenzo Montella has not made a decision on his future yet and talks are planned to decide whether to trigger his €8m (just under £7m) release clause (La Nazione via Sport Witness).
Pedro Obiang is another player on Fiorentina’s radar. According to Sky Sports News, the Equatorial Guinea international nearly completed a £10m January move to Fiorentina.
Perhaps Fernandes, Obiang and Masuaku could all be trading West Ham’s claret for the violet shirts of Fiorentina this summer.
