Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has spoken out on the future of reported West Ham United target Glen Kamara.
The Hammers have been linked with the Finland midfielder who has been a key member of Gerrard’s Rangers revival north of the border.
West Ham linked with Rangers midfield ace Kamara after over reliance on Soucek and Rice
West Ham have been linked with several central midfielders this summer. David Moyes was heavily reliant on Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek staying fit last season.
Moyes has Conor Coventry pressing for a first team squad place ahead of a jam-packed season with Europa League football in store.
But there has been talk the impressive youngster could be loaned out.
Moyes central midfield back-up may have slipped down priority list
Whether Moyes still has plans to sign a central midfielder remains to be seen. And whether reported target Kamara is still on his shortlist is another matter as the West Ham boss prioritises signing a striker and central defender.
ExWHUemployee said last month that West Ham fans should be wary of the reported interest in the Rangers midfield ace.
Ex said the links to the Rangers man could be ‘agent talk’.
Now Gers boss Gerrard has spoken out on Kamara’s future at Ibrox as Sky Sports report continued interest in the player from English clubs.
‘The ball is firmly in Glen’s court’ Gerrard speaks out on reported West Ham target’s future
“I love the kid, I love the player, and I’ve made it abundantly clear how much I want him to stay from a personal point of view,” Gerrard said in a news conference on Friday (Sky Sports).
“There’s a real strong contract offer on the table for Glen, so the speed at which this happens is totally up to Glen – the ball is firmly in his court…
“So the question that you’ve just asked me should really go in Glen’s direction because we are ready and waiting and hoping that it’s done as soon as possible.”
