West Ham United and Arsenal are said to be vying for the signing of PSG outcast Layvin Kurzawa.

Both clubs have been consistently linked with a move for Kurzawa, who was once one of the stars of the France team.

The defender can play both right-back and left-back.

Both positions – particularly on the right – is where West Ham boss David Moyes needs reinforcements.

West Ham and Arsenal battling for Kurzawa?

The Daily Star has claimed West Ham are ready to rival Arsenal with a £6million bid for Kurzawa, who is available on a free transfer in the summer.

But West Ham’s hopes looked bleak when it emerged agent Kia Joorabchian – the man who infamously brought Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to East London – was pushing his client player towards the Gunners (RMC Sport).

But according to PSG sporting director Leonardo, neither West Ham or Arsenal have been in touch regarding Kurzawa (Get French Football News).

PSG sporting director speaks out on speculation

“We have never received an offer, zero, for Kurzawa,” Leonardo told GFFN.

“He is playing a lot of matches, he is here.

We have not had a concrete offer, he is a player who is also coming to the end of his contract but we have not received anything. Arsenal have never called us, we have nothing.”

Nevertheless Kurzawa is expected to be part of some squad trimming in Paris with Edison Cavani also set to depart either now or in the summer.

Hammers in grave danger

West Ham have solved one problem in their squad with the return of Darren Randolph and departure of hapless Roberto.

But Moyes needs a full-back, midfielders and a striker if he is to help push West Ham up the table.

Kurzawa could solve another major issue and at 27 years old that would not just be for the short-term.

The Hammers currently sit 16th, one point off the drop zone.

And they face a nightmare run of fixtures against revitalised Leicester City, Manchester City and Liverpool twice in their next five games.
