Two Championship clubs have entered the race for Reece Oxford. According to a report by The Telegraph, Oxford’s move from West Ham to FC Augsburg has hit a stumbling block.

Oxford wants a relegation release clause in his contract if he moves to the Bundesliga side on a permanent deal. But Augsburg do not want to insert this into his contract.

With a move to Augsburg now looking unlikely, other clubs have joined the race. Championship duo Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion want the 20-year-old.

Slaven Bilic handed Oxford his West Ham debut when he was just 16. And now the pair could reunite at The Hawthorns with Bilic set for the West Brom job.

He wants the 6ft 3in Hammers defender to become his first summer signing. West Brom fell short of promotion last season and believe Oxford can strengthen their credentials for 2019/20.

But the Baggies face competition from Middlesbrough. After finishing outside the play-offs, Boro are eyeing reinforcements over the pitch with Oxford a possible target.

The England U20 starlet will reportedly cost £2m with West Ham ready to let him leave. Here are some tweets from West Ham fans reacting to these latest rumours.
