West Ham United are believed to be in the hunt for bring a former Chelsea striker back to the Premier League.

And I absolutely hate the sound of it.

West Ham are believed to be in talks to sign Elye Wahi from Marseille, but now another name has allegedly emerged as a target for us in the January transfer window.

Graham Potter will be under no illusions regarding the size of the task that lies ahead of him at the London Stadium.

And in order to succeed, he needs to sign a striker this month as a matter of urgency.

The forward he brings in must have real pace, power, movement and top-class finishing ability.

And that’s why our latest alleged transfer target is so desperately underwhelming.

West Ham want to sign ex-Chelsea striker in the January window

This month will be crucial to Potter’s hopes of overseeing some genuine progress at the London Stadium.

If he manages to get a couple of top quality signings through the door before the transfer window slams shut, there’s no reason why we can’t make a late push for the European spots.

However, the Hammers cannot afford to make panic signings. That will just put us further behind the eight-ball in the summer.

According to a report from Aksam, that’s exactly what we could be about to do…

West Ham are allegedly keen to sign Michy Batshuayi on loan from Galatasaray in the January window.

What a horrendous move that would be – one that reeks of a complete lack of ambition.

The 31-year-old former Chelsea striker is well past his best now, and hasn’t scored more than 10 goals in a top league since he bagged 17 for Marseille in the 2015/16 season.

Batshuayi proved during his time in England that he’s not a very good fit for the Premier League.

So why on earth West Ham would be trying to sign him in the January transfer window is anyone’s guess.

We should be going all out to make a big statement with a move for someone like Jhon Duran. Signing Batshuayi would be nothing more than a backwards step, and I really hope it doesn’t happen.
