Clearly petrified by the threat of relegation, West Ham have launched a new double move for an AFCON star and a fearless Brazilian.

West Ham have taken their own fans by surprise with their approach to the January transfer window.

Usually among the last to get deals done late in windows, the Hammers have already signed two players for in excess of £45m.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has made it clear his business is far from over too.

Nuno has made an astonishing West Ham transfer pledge in the wake of the captures of striker duo Valentin ‘Taty’ Castellanos and Pablo.

West Ham try to spend their way out of trouble

It is clear the Hammers hierarchy are pushing the boat out in sheer panic in a bid to try and stay aboard the Premier League gravy train.

The Hammers are staring relegation from the Premier League in the face after just three wins, and 14 points, from the opening 20 games.

If West Ham are relegated, just how worried are you about our finances?

Nuno has come under pressure with West Ham winless in nine matches.

That has left the Irons four points adrift of Nottingham Forest and safety in what is starting to look like a straight fight between the two clubs for survival.

West Ham and Forest meet in a crunch six-pointer on Tuesday night which could go some way to dictating who stays up.

The same can be said for the business done in the January window.

The Hammers are being linked with moves for the likes of centre-back Charlie Cresswell, winger Adama Traore and a number of full-backs.

Now Petrified West Ham have launched a new double move for an AFCON star and a fearless Brazilian.

It seems if West Ham are going to go down then they’re going to go down spending.

Hammers News reported on claims Nuno wants Al Nassr goalkeeper Bento Matheus on loan with an option to make the deal permanent for £10m in the summer.

Now that interest has been confirmed by multiple sources.

Fabrizio Romano says West Ham are in talks to get a deal done for Bento in what looks like very bad news for Alphonse Areola.

West Ham are in hot pursuit of Bento but he does not fancy them…😖

What would YOU do to convince him to join?

Video footage of Bento shows the Brazil international to be absolutely fearless in coming for crosses and corners – something the Hammers sorely need given their propensity to concede from those situations.

Areola continues to punch anything that comes near him, often leading to goals or second ball situations that lead to a goal.

One particular piece of footage on social media shows Bento producing four fearless saves in one move to keep the ball out of his net.

The move comes as West Ham also enquire about signing one of the stars of AFCON, Tochukwu Nnadi.

The 22-year-old Nigerian central midfielder plays for Belgian club Zulte Waregem and is noted for his energy, ball recovery and midfield discipline, often operating as a defensive or box-to-box midfielder.

His standout traits are positional awareness and strong duel-winning instincts.

Nnadi is also considered to be highly effective in transitional passing and has been described by scouts as “relentless” and “explosive in recovery”.

AFCON star and fearless Brazilian in West Ham’s sights

According to Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad, West Ham ‘have a crush’ on Nnadi, who is also to be comfortable progressing play with simple but incisive forward distribution.

He has burst on the scene for Nigeria at AFCON which means any move would have to wait until the Super Eagles’ elimination.

At West Ham, Nnadi would bring midfield energy, defensive cover and tactical balance, offering physicality, resilience and football intelligence that could help protect the defence – and goodness kniows they need protecting.

Freddie Potts and Soungoutou Magassa looked like being the answer alongside Mateus Fernandes.

But all three have been disappointing of late, being overrun in most games.

So a move for Nnadi could well make sense in the search for answers given West Ham need to throw everything at staying up.
