The path is clear for West Ham United to make emerging Spain star Dani Ceballos their first signing of the transfer window.
The Daily Star recently claimed West Ham are targeting the talented Real Madrid midfielder.
Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini wants two new strikers, two midfielders, a back-up goalkeeper and a defender according to reports.
Working alongside director of football Mario Husillos, Pellegrini has his eye on young talented players he can build a team around.
New report makes Ceballos claim
After Zinedine Zidane’s exit last summer Ceballos admitted his future was away from Madrid (Marca).
Now a new report from the same respected Spanish outlet has confirmed as much.
Marca states that Ceballas is one of the leading names Real are looking to sell as part of a 14-player clearout at the Bernabeu.
One of 14-player Zidane Madrid cull
Marca’s report names Ceballos, Gareth Bale and Keylor Navas as the three highest profile names being moved on.
The all-action midfielder was signed for £15million by Real from Betis in 2017.
It says a lot about how highly Real rated the 22-year-old that they handed him a six-year deal.
West Ham would be getting a class act
But he was never a Zidane signing in the first place so is surplus to requirements since his return.
Ceballos has shone for Spain since making his debut in a 6-0 UEFA Nations League win over Croatia.
Pellegrini has a base transfer budget of around £30million. That looks set to be topped up by the sale of Reece Oxford to German club Augsburg (Sky Sports).
