Pablo Zabaleta sends message to West Ham owners over transfers and names trio club must be built around

West Ham United veteran Pablo Zabaleta has made his feelings clear to the club’s owners and manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The popular Argentine is fresh from signing a one-year extension to his Hammers deal (whufc.com).

That will keep him in East London past his 34th birthday.

Supporters had been urging the club to retain the veteran’s services.

Crucial on and off the pitch

While Ryan Fredericks is slowly but surely starting to show his quality, Zabaleta’s influence is still crucial on and off the pitch.

And then they backed him with a £100 million splurge on 10 new players.

Some supporters feel that may prove to be a one off rather than a new era of ambition.

Fans hoping new found ambition not a flash in the pan

Hammers fans want to see the club push for top quality recruitment after some excellent transfer business last summer.

But Zabaleta is no different.

The defender has sent a message to the club’s owners David Sullivan and David Gold urging them to keep building (whufc.com).

And he has told manager Manuel Pellegrini to build the club around three of his teammates.

‘I hope the club can continue bringing in talent’

“I said this when I first came to the club that West Ham is a club with huge potential,” Zabaleta told whufc.com.

“We need to build a team around young players and they need to make this club better.

“The club spent big last summer trying to bring in young players, I’m glad when I see young promising players come through at the club and as I said, I hope I can see Declan Rice, Issa Diop, Felipe Anderson to be here for or four or five years.

“And I hope the club can continue bringing in talent and developing players – I wish that West Ham can be a top 10 team every single season and why not try to fight for European places.”
